The New Generation Society of Lawrence (NGSL) is dedicated to providing its membership with opportunities to pursue life-long learning, stay active in the Lawrence community, and support local philanthropic causes.
NGSL's mission is to help its members stay entrenched in the stimulating environment provided by the University of Kansas, the Lawrence community, and the region. Its core membership is comprised of energetic, curious adults who seek increased opportunities to expand their intellectual and cultural horizons.
The only qualifications for membership are an interest in our programs and a willingness to pay both annual dues to cover our administrative costs and fees for any programs in which you choose to enroll.
New Generation Society of Lawrence (NGSL) was formed 29 years ago as a means of providing a wide variety of interesting and informative programs to our members. Our activities include educational programs on current, cultural, and historical topics; social events at various local venues; and philanthropy. Our philanthropic mission is focused on helping local non-profit agencies and organizations. We usually plan twenty one-hour programs each semester. The types of programs we typically offer as well as a list of the upcoming ones can be found on this site. These one-hour programs are held on weekdays, either mid-morning or mid-afternoon. We occasionally plan day trips to other cities or arrange visits to local manufacturing facilities. NGSL maintains a close relationship with the Watkins Museum of History in Lawrence where we hold most of our one-hour programs. NGSL hosts four quarterly dinner/social events each year at various venues around the City of Lawrence. At the fall social, we present donations to the current year’s philanthropic awardees and conduct the annual meeting of the membership. NGSL utilizes commercial web-based software to make it easier for individuals to join the organization as well as for existing members to enroll in and pay for programs using their phone or personal computer. If your goal is to meet new people, stay abreast of what is happening in Lawrence, and enjoy a series of educational and entertaining programs, come join us today!
